Homemade-Dog-Treats: Apple
Apple Doggy Treat
Ingredients:
Two cups flour (whole wheat)
Half cup flour (unbleached)
Half cup cornmeal
One chopped or grated apple
One beaten egg
Third of a cup vegetable oil
One tbs brown sugar
Three Eights of a cup water (cold)
Preparation Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheet with Pam or
vegetable oil spray. Lightly dust your working surface with flour.
Blend flours and cornmeal in large mixing bowl. Add apple, oil, brown
sugar, egg and water; mix until well blended. On your floured
work surface, roll dough out to 7/8-inch thickness. Use cookie cutter
to cut cookies of desired shape and size. Place treats on prepared
sheet. Bake in preheated oven thirty five to forty minutes. Turn
the oven off, and leave door closed for one hour to crisp the treats.
Remove from oven. Store baked treats in airtight container or plastic
bag and place in refrigerator or freezer. Yield: Appr. Two Dozen.
Apple Cinnamon Doggie Biscuits
Ingredients:
One package of dried apple
Dash of cinnamon
One tablespoon parsley
One tbs. garlic powder
One cup water (cold)
Half a cup of corn oil
Five cups unbleached flour
Half cup low fat powdered milk
Two large eggs
One tbs. corn oil
Preparation Instructions:
Put the apples in a food processor so that pieces are small.
Combine in a bowl all of the ingredients (If dough is dry, add a little
oil or water). Using a rolling pin roll out dough to about 3/16" thick
(can make thinner or thicker). Using a cookie cutter -- cut into shapes
-- place on cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for approx 20 -25
minutes (until golden).
Crunchy Apple Doggy Cakes
Ingredients:
Two and three quarter cups water
Quarter cup applesauce (unsweetened)
Two tbs honey
One egg
Dash of vanilla extract
Four cups flour (whole wheat)
One cup dried apple
One tbs baking powder
Preparation Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl, mix together egg,
water, vanilla, applesauce, and honey. In a large bowl, combine
flour, baking powder, and apple chips. Add liquid ingredients to
dry ingredients and mix until very well blended. Pour into greased
muffin pans, Bake 1 1/4 hours, or until a toothpick inserted in the
center comes out dry. Store in a sealed container.
Yield: 12 to 14 Cakes.
You may
