Weimaraner: Personality & Health Issues
Weimaraner:
This large, sensitive breed is an all purpose hunting dog of excellent quality.  Used for big-game hunting in its native Germany, it was later trained as a bird dog, and as a water retriever.  The Weimaraner makes an excellent watchdog.  Although not dangerous, it will make a vigorous effort to get its own way.  If a Weimaraner is well trained, however, it is one of the best behaved of all breeds.  Since this is an active animal, it needs plenty of exercise.
Average Lifespan Of The Weimaraner: 12-13 years.
Average Weight: 70-85lbs.

Inherited Health Disorders:

Eyes:
Extra Lashes
Oversized Eye Socket (Orbit)
Entropion
Third Eyelid Turned In Or Out

Blood:
Hemophilia: Hemophilia is a disorder in which blood will not clot properly to aid in the healing of wounds.  A dog with a mild form or hemophilia might never even need treatment, unless excessing bleeding occurs due to trauma or surgery.  Unfortunately, dogs with severe hemophilia often die from uncontrollable bleeding problems.  Once you know your dog is affected, your vet will help you with managing this lifelong disorder.  This will include being vigilant for signs of bleeding, and occasional blood transfusions.

Abdomen:
Umbilical Hernia:
Appears as a soft swelling in the umbilical area.  If you notice this, consult your vet.  The condition can be quite serious if the hernia is large enough.
